Sound Mind Counselling
Men’s counselling in Abbotsford and online across BC
When pressure builds, it can show up as frustration, withdrawal or feeling stuck. I offer a solid sounding board and practical counselling support to help you understand what’s happening, work through challenges and make changes that matter to you.
Counselling for men feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck.
You might be keeping up with work and family responsibilities while feeling overwhelmed underneath. Perhaps you’re getting angry more easily, pulling away from your partner or struggling to find motivation. You may have tried to push through, only to find the same concerns coming back.
Counselling gives you a dedicated space to talk about what’s difficult without needing to have it all figured out. We can explore the pressures you’re facing, understand your responses and find ways forward that fit your life.
Support for men’s mental health, relationships and life changes.
-
When responsibilities leave little room to recover, it can become difficult to switch off. We can explore what’s contributing to the pressure and work towards more manageable ways of responding.
-
You may notice yourself snapping, shutting down or reacting in ways you later regret. Together, we can understand what leads up to those moments and explore different ways to express what you need.
-
Feeling flat, disconnected or uninterested in things you used to enjoy can be difficult to explain. Counselling offers room to talk about that experience and consider what support and change could look like.
-
If you’re finding it hard to say what you feel, handle disagreements or stay connected, we can explore the patterns affecting your relationships. These are individual sessions focused on your experiences and responses.
-
Whether you’re navigating singleness, becoming a father or adjusting to new responsibilities, you may be questioning your direction or what’s expected of you. We can explore self-doubt, build on your strengths and clarify the kind of man and parent you want to be.
-
You may be concerned about alcohol, drugs, gambling, sexual behaviour or the time you spend on your phone or gaming. We can explore how these patterns are affecting your life, what keeps them going and the changes you want to make.
How I work with men
Honest conversations, with practical steps forward.
I’m Joshua Abercrombie, a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Abbotsford. My approach is compassionate, practical and led by what matters to you.
I’ll listen, ask thoughtful questions and help you make sense of patterns in your emotions, behaviour and relationships. We’ll recognise the strengths you already bring and explore ways to use them when things feel difficult.
You may find it easier to talk while doing something together. Alongside office, phone and online appointments, we can discuss meeting for a walk, hike or fishing session in Abbotsford.
You don’t need to arrive ready to share everything. We can start with what feels most useful to talk about and build from there.
Faith, if you’d like to include it
Christian counselling for men seeking a shared foundation.
My Christian faith is central to my life and work, and I believe Jesus Christ is the path to healing. If you’re looking for Christian men’s counselling, we can bring faith into conversations about life’s pressures, relationships, identity and personal growth.
There is also space to explore spiritual questions or difficult church experiences honestly. You don’t need to have clear answers before we begin.
I welcome men of all faiths or none. We’ll discuss your preferences and include faith only if you want to.
Your next steps
Start with what’s on your mind.
1. Book a free consultation
We’ll have a 15-minute conversation about what you’re looking for. You can ask questions and decide whether working with me feels like a good fit.
2. Talk about what brings you here
In our first session, we’ll explore your concerns, what you’d like support with and what you hope might change.
3. Work towards your goals
Through ongoing conversations, we’ll build understanding and explore practical ways to respond to the challenges you’re facing. We can adjust our focus as your needs change.
