Sound Mind Counselling
Autism counselling in Abbotsford and online across BC
You deserve counselling that respects how you think, communicate and experience the world. I offer compassionate, practical support for autistic clients navigating overwhelm, anxiety, burnout and relationships, with space for your individual needs.
Counselling for autistic adults, with room to be yourself.
You may be spending a lot of energy navigating expectations, managing sensory demands or trying to explain what you need. Perhaps you feel misunderstood in relationships or need more time to recover from everyday situations than the people around you realise.
You might also be exploring what being autistic means for you, whether you’ve known for years or are considering it for the first time.
Counselling gives us space to talk about your experience without assuming what it should look like. Together, we can explore what’s difficult, recognise your strengths and consider changes that support your wellbeing

Experience that informs your support
Autism counselling informed by special education experience.
I’m Joshua Abercrombie, a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Abbotsford. Over a decade as a high school counsellor and special education teacher shapes how I support autistic clients and their families.
My approach considers your strengths, relationships, environment and individual support needs. I’ll listen to your experience and work with you to understand what would make counselling useful.
My Christian faith informs my work, and I welcome people of all faiths or none, with faith included in sessions only if you’d like it to be.
Counselling that fits you
Autism counselling that respects your needs and experience.
You may have a formal autism diagnosis, identify as autistic or be exploring whether autism helps explain your experiences. We can start with what’s bringing you here, without making assumptions about a diagnosis.
We’ll discuss your preferred communication style, sensory concerns and how much structure you find helpful. There’s room to take time processing questions, find your words and focus on the goals that matter to you. You don’t need to make eye contact to show that you’re engaged.
This service provides counselling support rather than autism assessment or diagnosis. If you’re seeking an assessment, I can help you explore appropriate providers, possible funding and additional support. Where helpful, I can also liaise with other agencies on your behalf.
