Sound Mind Counselling

Family counselling in Abbotsford and online across BC

When conversations keep turning into conflict, it can be difficult to know how to reconnect. I offer compassionate, practical counselling to help families understand one another, communicate their needs and work through challenges together.

Family counselling when the same disagreements keep coming back.

You may feel caught in a cycle of arguments, withdrawal or misunderstandings. Perhaps you’re trying to support your child but finding it difficult to connect, or changes in family life have left everyone feeling unsettled.

Family members can experience the same situation differently. Counselling gives us space to explore those perspectives, understand what’s contributing to tension and consider what each person needs.

Together, we can build on what’s already working and find practical ways to make everyday family life more manageable.

Support for family communication, conflict and change.

Meet Josh

Family counselling informed by school and special education experience.

I’m Joshua Abercrombie, a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Abbotsford. Over a decade as a high school counsellor and special education teacher shapes how I understand young people, caregivers and the challenges that can affect family relationships.

My approach considers each person’s strengths, experiences and support needs. I’ll help you explore what’s happening with curiosity and respect, while working towards practical changes that matter to your family.

My Christian faith informs my work. For families seeking Christian family counselling, faith can be included in ways that respect each participant’s beliefs and preferences. I also welcome families of all faiths or none.

your family’s needs

Make room for different perspectives.

Family counselling begins with understanding what brings you here and what you hope might change. We’ll discuss which family members would participate and whether the session format is a suitable fit for your concerns.

We’ll also talk through consent, privacy and the expectations for working together, including how young people’s voices will be included.

Our conversations will focus on understanding patterns, recognising strengths and exploring what each person can contribute to change. We can adjust our pace and approach as we learn what helps.
